This Privacy Policy applies to the mobile application known as Lanes, the website lanes.sg, and any related services, features, software, platforms, communications, and support channels operated by Bapak Pte. Ltd. (“Company”, “we”, “us”, or “our”).

By accessing or using Lanes, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy and agree that your personal data may be collected, used, disclosed, stored, processed, and transferred in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

1. DEFINITIONS

For the purposes of this Privacy Policy:

“Application” means the Lanes mobile application and any related software, services, or interfaces.

“Personal Data” means data, whether true or not, about an individual who can be identified from that data, or from that data and other information to which we have or are likely to have access.

“Services” means all services provided through or in connection with Lanes, including route planning, driving-related estimates, public transport guidance, traffic information, location-based services, saved places, app preferences, and support services.

“User”, “you”, or “your” means any individual who accesses or uses the Services.

3. PERSONAL DATA WE COLLECT

We may collect the following categories of Personal Data:

3.1 Account and Profile Data

Where applicable, we may collect:

  1. name;
  2. email address;
  3. phone number;
  4. account identifiers;
  5. login credentials or authentication tokens;
  6. user preferences; and
  7. any information voluntarily provided by you.

3.2 Location Data

Lanes is a route-planning and navigation-related application. In order to provide its core functions, we may collect and process:

  1. real-time device location;
  2. approximate location;
  3. starting point and destination;
  4. route search history;
  5. saved locations;
  6. journey-related metadata;
  7. location permission status; and
  8. map interaction data.

Where your device operating system allows, you may choose whether to permit location access only while using the Application or to deny location access. Certain features may not function properly without location access.

3.3 Vehicle and Transport Preference Data

We may collect information relating to your transport preferences, including:

  1. preferred mode of transport;
  2. vehicle model or vehicle category;
  3. estimated fuel efficiency;
  4. preferred fuel type;
  5. preferred petrol station or fuel provider;
  6. saved driving preferences;
  7. saved route preferences; and
  8. estimated journey cost preferences.

3.4 Journey, Route, and Usage Data

We may collect data relating to your use of the Services, including:

  1. route requests;
  2. selected routes;
  3. estimated journey duration;
  4. estimated fuel cost;
  5. estimated ERP or toll-related information;
  6. public transport route searches;
  7. traffic incident interaction data;
  8. car park availability searches;
  9. favourite places;
  10. journey history; and
  11. in-app actions and feature usage.

3.5 Device and Technical Data

We may collect technical information including:

  1. device model;
  2. operating system and version;
  3. app version;
  4. device identifiers;
  5. IP address;
  6. language and region settings;
  7. crash logs;
  8. diagnostics data;
  9. performance data;
  10. network information; and
  11. error reports.

3.6 Communications and Support Data

If you contact us, we may collect:

  1. your name;
  2. your email address;
  3. the contents of your message;
  4. attachments you provide;
  5. support history; and
  6. any other information necessary to respond to your enquiry.

3.7 Payment and Subscription Data

Where paid features, subscriptions, or purchases are offered, payment processing may be handled by third-party platforms such as Apple, Google, Stripe, or other payment processors. We may receive limited transaction-related information, such as:

  1. purchase status;
  2. subscription status;
  3. transaction identifiers;
  4. payment confirmation;
  5. renewal or expiry status; and
  6. refund or cancellation status.

We do not collect or store full credit card numbers unless expressly stated and processed through a secure payment provider.

4. HOW WE COLLECT PERSONAL DATA

  1. download, install, access, or use the Application;
  2. create or update an account;
  3. allow location permissions;
  4. search for routes, places, car parks, or transport options;
  5. save favourites or journey history;
  6. contact us for support;
  7. submit feedback;
  8. interact with our website;
  9. subscribe to paid services;
  10. respond to surveys or product research; or
  11. otherwise provide information to us.

We may also receive data from third-party service providers where necessary for the operation of the Services.

5. PURPOSES FOR COLLECTION, USE, AND DISCLOSURE

We may collect, use, disclose, and process Personal Data for the following purposes:

  1. to provide, operate, maintain, and improve the Services;
  2. to provide route planning, navigation-related, and journey estimation features;
  3. to process location-based requests;
  4. to calculate estimated fuel cost, ERP cost, journey time, and transport options;
  5. to display traffic incidents, transport information, weather-related suggestions, and car park availability;
  6. to save user preferences, favourites, and journey history;
  7. to personalise user experience;
  8. to provide customer support;
  9. to respond to enquiries, complaints, or requests;
  10. to verify accounts and prevent unauthorised access;
  11. to diagnose bugs, crashes, service interruptions, and technical issues;
  12. to monitor, analyse, and improve app performance;
  13. to develop new features and services;
  14. to process subscriptions, purchases, renewals, refunds, and billing-related matters;
  15. to send service-related notifications;
  16. to send important administrative, security, technical, or legal notices;
  17. to detect, prevent, investigate, and address fraud, abuse, security incidents, or unlawful activity;
  18. to enforce our Terms of Use and other policies;
  19. to comply with applicable laws, regulations, court orders, lawful requests, and regulatory obligations;
  20. to protect our rights, property, safety, users, and the public; and
  21. for any other purpose reasonably related to the above.

6. LOCATION DATA

Location data is central to the functionality of Lanes. We may process location data to:

  1. determine your current location;
  2. provide route suggestions;
  3. estimate travel time;
  4. estimate driving costs;
  5. show nearby places, car parks, transport options, or incidents;
  6. improve routing accuracy;
  7. support location-based app features; and
  8. improve the overall reliability and performance of the Services.

You may disable location access through your device settings. If location access is disabled, certain features of Lanes may be unavailable, inaccurate, or degraded.

Unless expressly stated otherwise, Lanes is not intended to continuously track your location when you are not using the Application.

7. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES

The Services may rely on third-party service providers, platforms, APIs, or infrastructure providers. These may include providers for:

  1. maps and routing;
  2. geocoding and place search;
  3. traffic and transport data;
  4. weather data;
  5. car park availability data;
  6. analytics;
  7. crash reporting;
  8. cloud hosting;
  9. authentication;
  10. payment processing;
  11. customer support; and
  12. email or communications.

Such third parties may process Personal Data in accordance with their own privacy policies, terms, and legal obligations. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third parties that are not under our control.

8. DISCLOSURE OF PERSONAL DATA

We may disclose Personal Data to:

  1. our employees, officers, contractors, advisers, and authorised representatives;
  2. cloud hosting providers;
  3. analytics providers;
  4. crash reporting providers;
  5. payment processors;

  9. regulators, law enforcement agencies, government authorities, courts, or tribunals where required or permitted by law;

We will not sell your Personal Data in the ordinary course of business.

You may opt out of marketing communications by following the unsubscribe instructions in the relevant message or by contacting us.

Even if you opt out of marketing communications, we may still send you non-marketing communications, including service notices, security alerts, administrative messages, legal notices, and transaction-related communications.

11. CONSENT

By using the Services, submitting Personal Data to us, or enabling permissions such as location access, you consent to the collection, use, disclosure, and processing of your Personal Data as described in this Privacy Policy.

You may withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us. However, withdrawal of consent may affect our ability to provide some or all of the Services to you.

Where you provide Personal Data relating to another individual, you represent and warrant that you have obtained that individual’s consent for the collection, use, disclosure, and processing of such Personal Data in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

12. ACCURACY OF PERSONAL DATA

You should ensure that all Personal Data submitted to us is complete, accurate, and up to date. You may update certain information through the Application where such functionality is available.

We may take reasonable steps to ensure that Personal Data used by us is accurate and complete where it is likely to be used to make a decision affecting you or disclosed to another organisation.

13. PROTECTION OF PERSONAL DATA

We will take reasonable administrative, physical, and technical measures to protect Personal Data in our possession or under our control against unauthorised access, collection, use, disclosure, copying, modification, disposal, loss, or similar risks.

However, no method of transmission over the internet, mobile network, wireless network, or method of electronic storage is completely secure. We do not guarantee absolute security of Personal Data.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your device, login credentials, and account access.

14. RETENTION OF PERSONAL DATA

We will retain Personal Data for as long as it is necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected, or as required or permitted by applicable law.

We may retain Personal Data for purposes including:

  1. providing the Services;
  2. maintaining account records;
  3. resolving disputes;
  4. enforcing agreements;
  5. complying with legal, accounting, tax, audit, and regulatory obligations;

Your Personal Data may be stored, processed, or transferred outside Singapore, including where our service providers, hosting infrastructure, or technical systems are located overseas.

Where we transfer Personal Data outside Singapore, we will take steps required under applicable law to ensure that the transferred Personal Data receives a standard of protection comparable to that under Singapore law.

17. ACCESS AND CORRECTION REQUESTS

You may request access to Personal Data that we hold about you, or request correction of inaccurate or incomplete Personal Data, by contacting us.

We may require information to verify your identity before processing your request. We may also charge a reasonable fee where permitted by law and will inform you of such fee before processing the request.

We may refuse or limit access or correction requests where permitted or required by applicable law.

18. WITHDRAWAL OF CONSENT

You may withdraw your consent for the collection, use, disclosure, or processing of your Personal Data by contacting us.

Upon receiving your withdrawal request, we may require a reasonable period to process it. We will inform you of the likely consequences of withdrawal, which may include the inability to provide certain Services.

Withdrawal of consent does not affect any collection, use, disclosure, or processing of Personal Data carried out before the withdrawal, or any processing permitted or required by law.

19. CHILDREN AND MINORS

The Services are not intended for children below the age of 13, or such other minimum age as may be prescribed by applicable law.

If you are a minor, you should use the Services only with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian.

If we become aware that we have collected Personal Data from a child without appropriate consent where such consent is required, we may take steps to delete such data.

20. THIRD-PARTY LINKS

The Services may contain links to third-party websites, services, applications, or platforms.

We are not responsible for the privacy practices, content, terms, security, or operations of third-party services. You should review the privacy policies of such third parties before providing any Personal Data to them.

21. APP STORE AND PLATFORM PROVIDERS

Where you access Lanes through third-party platforms such as the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, your use of such platforms may be subject to their own terms, privacy policies, and data practices.

We are not responsible for the collection, use, disclosure, or processing of Personal Data by such platform providers.

22. DATA BREACHES

In the event of a data breach affecting Personal Data in our possession or under our control, we will assess the incident and take appropriate steps in accordance with applicable law.

Where required by law, we will notify the relevant authorities and affected individuals.

23. BUSINESS TRANSFERS

If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, restructuring, sale of assets, financing, transfer of business, insolvency, or similar transaction, Personal Data may be disclosed or transferred as part of that transaction.

The recipient of such Personal Data may continue to use it in accordance with this Privacy Policy unless otherwise notified.

24. YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

You agree to:

  1. provide accurate and complete information;
  2. keep your account credentials secure;
  3. promptly update inaccurate information;
  4. use the Services lawfully;
  5. comply with applicable laws and regulations;
  6. not misuse, interfere with, or compromise the Services; and
  7. not provide Personal Data of another person without proper authority or consent.

25. CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY

We may amend this Privacy Policy from time to time.

Any amended Privacy Policy will be posted through the Application, website, or other appropriate channel. The amended Privacy Policy will take effect from the date stated in the updated policy, unless otherwise specified.

Your continued use of the Services after any amendment constitutes your acknowledgement of the amended Privacy Policy.

26. GOVERNING LAW

This Privacy Policy shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Singapore.
